Infinera to Discuss Digital Optical Networks for Subsea Market at PTC

Infinera Submarine Networks Offer Additional Services, Features

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - January 12, 2011) - Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Dr. Dave Welch will speak at next week's Pacific Telecommunications Conference on the benefits of Infinera's Digital Optical Networks architecture for subsea optical networks. Dr. Welch's presentation at a PTC panel discussion titled Subsea Cable Vendor Smackdown, forms part of a full menu of Infinera events at the PTC'11 conference in Honolulu, Hawaii. On Tuesday, Jan. 18th, Infinera in partnership with Sidera Networks (www.sidera.net), a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, will host a cocktail reception for invited guests and customers.

On display at the Infinera booth at PTC'11 will be Infinera's innovative optical systems, including the Infinera DTN as SLTE. The Infinera DTN as SLTE provides a set of application-optimized features for upgrading submarine cable networks, including support for high-reliability trans-oceanic optical transmission, low-cost and low-latency full-band dispersion compensation optimized for greatly reduced size, integrated low-cost terrestrial backhaul and submarine network inter-connection, and undersea cable connectivity solutions optimized for operating over existing cable systems. Infinera Submarine Solutions have been deployed worldwide for customers for a total of more than 85,000 route-kilometers, including routes across the Atlantic, between North, Central, and South America, in the Middle East, and in the Indian Ocean.

"The Infinera DTN as SLTE offers the scalability, network efficiency, bandwidth flexibility, and reconfigurability that subsea service providers need to meet the growing bandwidth demands of international networks," commented Infinera's Dave Welch. "New features in Infinera's SLTE include client interfaces to support OTN services on a submarine network, and simplified management of multi-vendor networks via the Infinera Management Suite."

The Pacific Telecommunications Conference will take place January 16-19 in Honolulu. Further conference information is available at http://www.ptc.org/ptc11/. To make an appointment to meet with Infinera, contact your Infinera representative or email us at events@infinera.com.
