Infinera to Discuss Next-Generation Optical Solutions at Carrier Ethernet Conference

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - October 8, 2010) -  Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) will discuss next-generation optical solutions designed to improve bandwidth, performance, and network efficiency at the Carrier Ethernet Backhaul & Exchange Europe Conference next week in London.

Infinera will speak on engineering low-latency optical networks to support financial and other high-performance applications where latency time is a critical differentiator. Infinera has deployed low-latency networks for customers in the US and Europe. With the support of its Infinera network, Colt has achieved significant reductions in latency on its pan-European Long Distance Network (LDN), including a measured latency of 4.22 milliseconds on the London-Frankfurt route.

Also at the Carrier Ethernet Backhaul & Exchange Europe Conference, Infinera will speak on the use of GMPLS to automate the management of an optical network. Infinera's GMPLS-powered network management system enables simplified "point-and-click" provisioning of circuits between any two end-points in the network, delivering greater utilization of network resources, lower operating costs, and more rapid response to customer needs.

Infinera continues to drive towards higher-capacity and more cost-effective optical networks. Last month, Colt and Infinera announced a successful demonstration of 100 Gigabit Ethernet services on Colt's low latency fiber optic network between London and Frankfurt.

Colt's Chief Technology Officer, Luke Broome said: "With the support of Infinera, Colt is able to offer our customers superior low-latency performance on key routes in Europe and we look forward to deploying more of these innovative technologies as soon as they are available."

"Infinera is focused on developing innovative technologies for optical networks that address the evolving needs of the low latency market," said Chris Liou, Infinera Vice President of Network Strategy. "Our low-latency solutions leverage an extensive technology toolkit across both optics and electronics that together enables customers to engineer their network for their specific transport needs across both long-haul and metro geographies, while delivering ultra low-latency performance."

The Carrier Ethernet Backhaul & Exchange Europe will take place October 11-13 at the CBI Conference Centre on New Oxford Street in London. Infinera product and technology experts will be available at Infinera Booth #5. Further conference information is available at http://www.layer123.com/carrier-ethernet.
