Info-Tech Research Group Ranks Avaya as Enterprise LAN "Champion"

BASKING RIDGE, NJ--(Marketwire - Jul 16, 2012) -

  • Avaya earns high scores in Info-Tech Research Group Vendor Landscape report
  • Avaya Networking "should be a contender on most organizations' shortlists" for enterprise LAN solutions, according to report

Avaya was named a Champion of the enterprise LAN market, earning high product and vendor scores in a new Vendor Landscape report by Info-Tech Research Group. The report evaluated enterprise LAN solutions from eight major vendors.

According to Info-Tech Research Group, Avaya's enterprise LAN portfolio can support highly virtualized businesses. It delivers strong energy saving features and cost savings, and provides excellent integration with Avaya's telephony and communications products. Avaya's LAN offerings score highly on several criteria including features, usability and architecture, the market research organization found.

Avaya embraces standards-based protocols for its networking infrastructure with the Avaya Virtual Enterprise Network Architecture (VENA) -- an enterprise-wide virtualization that simplifies the design and management of networks, streamlines the deployment of cloud-based services and improves the delivery of always-on content. The Avaya VENA Enterprise Fabric enables organizations to add services up to 25 times1 faster than with current technology, with less risk, across both wired and wireless networks. In addition, virtualizing the network core increases protection against failures and improves delivery of always-on applications.

The report's authors state that mobility and cloud computing are changing the demands of enterprise LAN users. Info-Tech Research Group expects next-generation networks to be largely wireless, particularly at the network edge as mobile device usage continues to rise. As a result, vendors are unifying and converging their portfolios across networks and, in an effort to differentiate their offerings, increasingly driving performance, reliability and resiliency through proprietary protocols and techniques. Avaya is addressing network convergence with its Unified Access capability, which decouples the control and data traffic so that wireless data can take the most optimal path across the network.
