Information Builders Honors Customers for Distinguished Use of BI and Integration Technologies

MasterCard, MWH Global, OFS Brands, Love's Travel Stops, and Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services Recognized at Annual Summit Conference

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Jun 3, 2012) - Information Builders, a leader in business intelligence (BI) and analytics, information integrity, and integration solutions, today announced the winners of its Awards of Distinction for original and innovative use of BI and integration technology. Information Builders is honoring the winners at its 2012 Summit User Conference, which highlights successful customer implementations along with contributions from partners and industry analysts. Featuring a variety of customer-led sessions addressing relevant business issues, this year's five-day conference also showcases new products, technical breakthroughs, and partner solutions.

The honored customers have deployed BI and integration solutions in manufacturing, government, financial services, retail, and professional services. Their work exemplifies the Summit theme of expanding the scope of information technology to improve organizational effectiveness and better serve society.

"We are pleased to highlight the outstanding contributions of these hard-working customers," said Information Builders' Founder and CEO Gerald Cohen. "This year's award recipients typify the breakthroughs that result from making good business decisions, benefiting others, and using technology in innovative ways."

The following Information Builders customers received Awards of Distinction during the opening ceremony of the Summit conference:

Best Enterprise BI Deployment - MasterCard
Since selecting WebFOCUS, MasterCard has developed a number of ad hoc reporting solutions for employees and customers, with more planned in the future. MasterCard team members use WebFOCUS guided ad hoc reports to offer enhanced, more informed reporting, allowing the team to reduce the number of individual reports to be generated at the same time. In addition, WebFOCUS Active Technology provides additional flexibility by permitting system users to manipulate a significant amount of data that is distributed with each report, enabling a constrained environment for sorting, filtering, performing calculations, and other advanced functions.

Best Global Use of WebFOCUS - MWH Global
MWH Global, an engineering, construction, and water resource management firm that is active in nearly 40 countries, uses WebFOCUS to help rebuild the city of Christchurch, New Zealand following the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011. Three WebFOCUS BI applications are essential to the Christchurch team: a customer portal, a performance dashboard, and a balanced scorecard. About 3,000 claimants use the portal to check the status of their claims, dozens of claim handlers use it to see all of the claims in their accounts, and key insurance brokers use the dashboard and balanced scorecard to analyze the claims under their policies. The BI assets can be accessed on Apple iPads and other mobile devices, streamlining field work.

Best Mobile BI Deployment - OFS Brands
OFS Brands, a family-owned manufacturing company committed to providing socially responsible furniture and logistic solutions, uses WebFOCUS Mobile to help its sales professionals track vital information via reports and dashboards on their Apple iPhones and iPads. All BI assets work equally well on desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, and tablets. The dashboard includes user-friendly pie charts, line charts, and parameterized fields, permitting ad hoc query and drill-downs. Some of the new BI functions have a direct impact on revenue, such as being able to discern margins by product, brand, region, or dealership. Power users throughout the company use WebFOCUS InfoAssist to develop ad hoc reports and add them to the dashboards.

Most Innovative Use of iWay - Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores
Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, a family-owned company with more than 280 locations and 130 tire care centers in 39 states, uses iWay Data Quality Center (DQC) to reconcile point-of-sale data from its retail stores with settlement data from credit card companies. iWay helps Love's Credit Services department to detect, analyze, and resolve issues with financial transactions and provide the IT department with information to fix recurring problems. Rapid analysis and resolution improves cash flow and ensures prompt payments -- an innovative breakthrough with ramifications for many other corporate finance departments.

Humanitarian Award - Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services
Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) depends on Information Builders' technologies to identify fraudulent activity within its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), as well as:

  • Identify and combat fraud in its Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)
  • Help case workers match children in crisis with appropriate foster homes
  • Accelerate disaster recovery by ensuring that those who rely on SNAP benefits receive emergency services and supplies during power outages
  • Support a Common Access Front End (CAFÉ) to ensure consistency and visibility across all programs

Dozens of managers, supervisors, and fraud investigators depend on WebFOCUS and iWay Software to manage these important state programs, better serve Louisiana residents, and make sure that taxpayer dollars go to the children and families that truly need help.
