Information Mapping Acquires XML Technology; Will Launch Content Mapper for Easy Content Management Authoring

WALTHAM, Mass.--(CCNMatthews - Nov 8, 2005) -

Content Mapper will Allow Authors to Work in Microsoft Word to generate XML and link to Content Management Systems

Information Mapping™, Inc. (IMI), the leading provider of Information Life Cycle Solutions to the Global 1000, today announced it has acquired XML technology to be integrated with Content Mapper™, a front-end MS-Word-based authoring tool that generates XML and links with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Systems. Scheduled to launch later this month, Content Mapper offers a Word-based authoring environment, round trip editing from Word to XML and back again, integration with the most popular ECM systems, simple meta-data tagging, import of legacy documents, flexible publishing and high quality XML output.

Content Management and other technology vendors have adopted XML as their architecture for text and related elements. From a practical standpoint, the development, editing and proliferation of XML-based content has been constrained by the author's ability to easily structure text and tag it with XML. In support of Content Management implementations, expensive and complex XML editors have generally been adopted only by technical specialists. Enterprise adoption of ECM demands that knowledge workers should be able to develop and edit content using the Microsoft Office products that they use every day without having to deal directly with XML.

"Technologists have adopted XML, an architecture that meets their needs but is difficult for end users to implement. Without user acceptance, XML-based ECM tools are under-utilized and the large investment that has been made in content management is often perceived as wasted," said Doug Gorman, CEO of Information Mapping, Inc. "Content Mapper revolutionizes all that by providing an easy and familiar interface that puts the power of XML where it belongs -- in the background. Content Mapper will improve author productivity and satisfaction which will improve enterprise level adoption of ECM systems."

Financing for the acquisition of this technology was secured through current stakeholder investment and the resources of both Danske Bank of Copenhagen and Eastern Bank of Boston.
