Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council Elects 2009 Leadership

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - February 18, 2009) - The Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council (IT SCC) elected two new members to its Executive Committee during the council's Annual Meeting on January 13, 2009. Tiffany Jones, Director of Government Relations at Symantec Corporation, was elected to the Executive Committee and to the officer role of Treasurer. The council also elected Franck Journoud, Manager of Information Security Policy at the Business Software Alliance, to the Executive Committee.

"The IT SCC welcomes the experience and knowledge Ms. Jones and Mr. Journoud will bring to the table in 2009," said Robert Dix, Jr., the council's Chair. "Their expertise will assist the IT SCC as it looks to finalize its Baseline Risk Assessment and continue its collaboration with its Government Coordinating Council counterpart during the administration transition."

Mr. Dix, who is Vice President of Government Affairs at Juniper Networks, was re-elected to his second term as Chairman of the IT SCC. In addition, Cheri McGuire, Principal Security Strategist at Microsoft, was re-elected as Vice-chair position for 2009; and Liesyl Franz, Vice President of Information Security Programs & Global Public Policy at the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), was re-elected by the membership as IT SCC Secretary. The elections of the IT SCC Executive Committee and the IT SCC's Officers are held during the Annual Meetings every January.

During its Annual Meeting, the IT SCC leadership also expressed its appreciation to Ken Watson, Cisco Systems, and Larry Clinton, Internet Security Alliance, for their service and participation on the Executive Committee during the past two years. Leadership praised Mr. Watson and Mr. Clinton for helping the IT Sector take significant strides toward becoming a more secure, safe, and resilient sector.

The Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council was established on January 27, 2006 in response to HSPD-7 and the National Infrastructure Protection Plan for the purposes of bringing together companies, associations, and other key IT sector participants on a regular basis to coordinate strategic activities and communicate broad sector member views associated with infrastructure protection, response and recovery that are broadly relevant to the IT Sector.
