Infortrend Highlights Storage Virtualization Options for Enterprises at VMworld® 2011

Improved Storage Utilization Efficiency, Increased ROI Offered by Infortrend's ESVA F60 and ESVA F70

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Aug 30, 2011) - Today at VMworld® 2011, Infortrend® (TPE: 2495), the networked storage expert, will be on hand to showcase a range of options available to enterprises considering storage virtualization. With demonstrations of two models, the F60 and the F70, Infortrend will highlight its ESVA (Enterprise Scalable Virtualized Architecture) product family, which utilizes storage virtualization, scale-out technology, thin provisioning, and data protection to bring users optimal resource efficiency, management convenience, operational resilience, and increased availability.

By eliminating the physical boundaries of storage consolidation, storage-based virtualization is an ideal way to help companies improve storage utilization efficiency while minimizing additional costs. According to Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, "Enterprises are quickly catching on to the ways in which virtualization can help increase ROI. For those that have already implemented server virtualization, Infortrend's virtualized storage structure can further extend the benefits of virtualization technology. For enterprises that are completely new to virtualization, Infortrend's ESVA solution can generate significant resource utilization and cost advantages that are hard to achieve in non-virtualized architectures."

The ESVA F60 and F70 are powerful SAN solutions featuring eight 8Gb/s Fibre Channel (FC) host ports for excellent host connectivity. With scale-out technology, the F60 and F70 can be expanded to a maximum of 1,344 disk drives, helping users to protect their investments when business grows. In addition, the ESVA F60 and F70 offer support for SSDs, SAS drives and nearline SAS drives. By mixing different drives in their installation, users can achieve ideal service levels for diverse applications in the most effective way.

In addition to FC connectivity, the ESVA F70 features four 1GbE iSCSI host ports to achieve hybrid FC/iSCSI host connectivity, allowing enterprise users to configure cost-effective remote replication via iSCSI-based data transmission over Ethernet. For users not requiring remote replication, the hybrid connectivity can also be used to support consolidated SAN tiering. A single storage pool of the ESVA F70 can meet service level requirements of both tier 1 applications on FC SAN and tier 2 applications on IP SAN.

Infortrend is a VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) Program member. Infortrend's iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC) host storage products are VMware certified. During VMworld 2011, Infortrend will be showcasing its ESVA product family line at booth number 759. For more information, please visit
