INFORUM to Host a Discussion With Cisco, Google, Twitter and Virgin America on How to Attract and Retain Top Talent From Baby Boomers to Gen Y

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 8, 2013) -  INFORUM announced today that it will host a panel of industry leaders to discuss how new Generation Y employees will transform the workplace and what companies must do to remain appealing as the talent wars heat up. This program will take place at the Commonwealth Club offices in San Francisco on Tuesday, July 16, at 6 p.m. PT.

Studies have shown that by 2025, Generation Y will make up almost 75 percent of all employees. This staggering demographic shift will change the workforce, bringing up difficult questions about how companies need to evolve to both attract new talent and keep their existing employees engaged and satisfied. To lead this conversation, our panelists include:

  • Todd Carlisle, director of staffing at Google
  • Melissa Daimler, head of organizational effectiveness and learning at Twitter
  • Rowan Trollope, SVP and general manager of the Collaboration Technology Group at Cisco

What kind of corporate culture and management should companies encourage to appeal to this newest generation of workers? How are companies dealing with requests from Gen Y'ers who want greater flexibility in how they work and interact with colleagues around the world? And what role does technology play -- everything from collaboration tools to new mobile apps -- in enabling these new ways of working? During the panel, Carlisle, Daimler and Trollope will discuss their own views on these topics and their vision of what the workplace of the future will be. They'll talk about the surprises they've seen over the past couple of years as Gen Y has entered the workforce and what kinds of cultural shifts they expect companies to undergo over the next five to 10 years.

Cisco, Google, Twitter and Virgin America each have a reputation of commitment to their employees and a willingness to disrupt traditional working practices. Each company is known for a distinctive corporate culture, embracing entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and irreverence. Our panelists will share their own experiences of how each company is discovering the best talent for their organization and helping them thrive in a multi-generational work environment.

INFORUM at The Commonwealth Club is pleased to host "How to Attract Tomorrow's Talent and Prepare for the Future Workforce" at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on July 16. Doug MacMillan, technology reporter at Bloomberg Businessweek, will lead the conversation through the top trends impacting the workforce, lessons from each panelist and more.
