ING U.S. Teams With Trustnode on Replacement Supplemental Life Offering for County of Santa Barbara Employees -- Leads to Increases in Participation and Volume

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 18, 2013) - Trustnode today announced that ING U.S. realized increased participation rates and volume on a replacement supplemental life program for County of Santa Barbara employees using Trustnode's solution. Trustnode provides animated Education and Decision Support software to help consumers make well-informed choices about their benefits and insurance options.

The County of Santa Barbara, ING and County of Santa Barbara benefits broker Alliant Insurances Services, Inc. collaborated to improve the existing voluntary term life buy up program offered by the County by providing savings to employees while increasing the guarantee issue amount. Using Trustnode's online, interactive assistant Harvey to introduce the new program, the off-cycle offering garnered a 29% increase in participation by employees and their spouses/partners, and the volume increased 40%. The County has 3,800 employees in 23 departments and uses BenXcel®, an electronic enrollment and billing system from BCC (Benefit Coordinators Corporation).

"We're thrilled with the results achieved by ING and Trustnode. Our goal is to increase employees' satisfaction with the benefits selection process and help them make the best possible decisions. Trustnode's content and approach provide employees with an engaging, informative and relevant experience that increases participation, enables them to confidently make important choices for themselves and their families and increases their satisfaction overall with the benefits selection process. Given the success achieved with Trustnode on the ING supplemental life offering, Harvey will now be involved with all of our existing core and voluntary benefits during the 2013 open enrollment in October. I knew we'd found something good when my 13 year-old daughter told me she thought Harvey was 'cool,'" stated Andreas Pyper, County of Santa Barbara Employee Wellness & Benefits Manager.

According to ING Assistant Regional Manager, Michelle Ferry, "We used Trustnode along with the County of Santa Barbara's current electronic enrollment system from BCC to execute the off-cycle enrollment. Trustnode's Web-based, interactive platform gave employees the freedom to learn what they needed to know when they wanted to -- all in a fun, easy-to-use way."
