Ingram Micro Teams With Cisco to Donate Backpacks, Supplies and Funds to Local Schools

BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwired - Nov 1, 2013) - Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest wholesale technology distributor, today announced that its Buffalo associates have partnered with Cisco to donate 400 backpacks filled with school supplies for two local schools: Public School 30 and West Hertel Academy. Cisco also donated $4,000 to the Buffalo Board of Education, with $2,000 going to each of the two schools in support of the contributions made by Ingram Micro's associates.

The donation was the result of Ingram Micro's Cisco-sponsored Build-a-Backpack floor day, during which associates from both companies rolled up their sleeves and worked together to fill 400 backpacks with school supplies that included paper, binders, pens, pencils, calculators, rulers and other materials requested by the schools. The filled backpacks will be distributed to students in need of supplies and given as prizes for school contests and good behavior.

The joint effort reflects Ingram Micro's ongoing commitment to give back to the community and Cisco's associate goal to "Make Amazing Happen," according to Peter Gambino, executive director, Ingram Micro Advanced Technology.

"At Ingram Micro, we always strive to make a lasting, positive impact on our community," Gambino said. "Being able to make that happen through our partnership with Cisco was truly a great experience."

Andrew Sage, vice president of distribution, Americas at Cisco, seconded the importance of community improvement.

"Cisco's culture is based on a longstanding commitment to enhance local communities and help those in need," Sage said. "Working with business partners like Ingram Micro illustrates our collaborative spirit to accomplish this goal."

"This was the first year our two companies had held such an activity," added Gambino. "Based on its popularity and success, we've decided to make our Ingram Micro/Cisco Build-a-Backpack floor day an annual event."

Dr. Wanda Schoenfeld, principal of Public School 30, expressed her gratitude for the donation.

"This is an amazing and overwhelming act of generosity that will benefit our students and school in untold ways," Schoenfeld said. "P.S. 30 could not be more appreciative of the efforts of both Ingram Micro and Cisco."
