InLocation Alliance Announces the Winners of Its Best Use Case Contest


PISCATAWAY, NJ--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2015) -  The InLocation Alliance (ILA) today announced the winners of its Best Use Case Contest at its annual Plenary hosted by CSR in Cambridge, UK. The contest invited members to submit descriptions of successful deployments of Indoor Positioning technology and was judged by a Peer Review panel of members based on the benefits the solution offers stakeholders, the novelty of the solution and the solution's compliance with the ILA System Architecture.

"I am delighted by the quality of entries to the competition. The breadth of applications from the finalists demonstrate the growing market potential from Indoor Positioning," said Jouni Kämäräinen, Chair of ILA.

"ILA members participated enthusiastically and we received many excellent submissions. The winners were selected by a full membership vote from a shortlist of finalists identified by a Peer Review Panel composed of representatives of LocuSense, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony Mobile and Telecom Italia," said Fabio Malabocchia, Leader of the Use Case Working Group.

The three winning entries are

  • indoo.rs - Airport; a collaboration with San Francisco International Airport for helping the blind and visually impaired to find their way around the Airport at Terminal 2. indoo.rs' patented technology uses a combination of Bluetooth beacons, Wi-Fi access points and a mobile app to help guide the passengers.
  • InfSoft - Campus Düsseldorf; a collaboration with Vodafone that gives staff and visitors at the new German center a wealth of information and services around the building complex. The application supports finding the way to a meeting point, colleague finding, meeting room booking and finding the users current position.
  • Sailstech - iMap; an indoor mobile navigation app for the largest station in Taiwan -- Taipei Railway Station, also known as the Taiwan's largest maze. Using the existing Wi-Fi signal in the building the application supports locating and navigation functionality for passengers. This case is also the first largest application imported by Sailstech SDK.

There are a further two distinguished mentions for Genasys for their Patrol Control application and Sailstech for their Computex application.
