Innotas Survey Reveals That 50% of Respondents Had an IT Project Fail Over the Last Year

74% of Respondents Do Not Have Enough Resources to Manage IT Project Demand

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 19, 2013) - Fifty percent of respondents to a survey of IT professionals sponsored by Innotas -- the leading provider of Cloud Portfolio Management (PPM) solutions -- indicated that they had an IT project that failed in the past year. The survey also revealed that 74 % did not have enough resources/ staff to manage demand for projects.

While having a PMO (project management office) or EPMO in place was true for 64% of the respondents, proper management of resources/staffing was lacking. In fact, 51% cited resourcing as their biggest challenge.

Additional survey data indicated that benefits realization (17%), prioritization (14%), budgeting (13%) and alignment (5%) were constant challenges to project success.

Importantly, 94 percent of respondents said that project success is critical to the performance and success of their businesses, although most did not have enough resources to manage project demand.

"The high percentage of projects that failed over the last year, and the lack of resources dedicated to project management, shows that many organizations have not yet embraced an approach that enables project success," said Kevin Kern, CEO of Innotas. "Our solution provides complete end-to-end project management to help organizations make informed decisions, while prioritizing all work requests and planning for future initiatives -- for business and project success."
