This research, using trained and skilled market researchers, uncovered a potentially deceptive advertising effort now being undertaken by several local "conventional" residential drug addiction treatment programs.

This study found that some of Las Vegas's traditional-model residential addiction treatment programs have begun to advertise "rapid detox" addiction treatment services. However, when prospects call in looking for rapid detox services, these addiction treatment centers try to switch them from a "rapid detox" treatment to conventional 28-day to 45-day residential addiction treatment. These research findings were confirmed by several mystery shoppers calling these drug rehab centers on different dates over a period of two weeks.

Research also suggests that this move toward traditional-model drug treatment centers advertising that they offer rapid detox when they really offer traditional in-patient treatment programs can be found across the country.

"This is a classic bait-and-switch advertising tactic," according to Innovative Detox's CEO, Dr. Lucas Furst. "The centers we mystery-shopped are claiming to offer "rapid detox" drug rehab services -- but what they really offer is the standard five-to-seven-day in-patient program of "assisted" withdrawal.

"There is nothing rapid about this week-long withdrawal," Dr. Furst pointed out, "because their patients still have to go through an extended period of withdrawal. Worse, some of the conventional treatment centers we mystery-shopped exchange their patients' current opiate addiction -- to heroin or prescription opiates -- for addiction to Suboxone. This is an addictive opiate that some claim is easier to withdraw from than prescription or street opiates -- but studies show their success rate, even using Suboxone, is dismal.

These traditional drug rehab programs all depend on the patient's willpower to persevere through a seven-day withdrawal, followed by a lifetime of 'one-day-at-a-time' resistance to cravings and temptations. It is for this reason that, according to a 'meta-study' white paper which reviewed and analyzed 36 published peer-reviewed studies, their patients tend to relapse. This meta-study concluded that traditional drug rehab programs have -- at best -- a 75 percent failure rate, while true anesthesia-facilitated drug rehab programs have a 90+ percent success rate."
