Innovative Houston Exchange Carrier Once Again Turns to Enablence to Maintain Growth of its All-Optical Access Network

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 6, 2010) - Enablence Technologies Inc. ("Enablence" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:ENA), a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) equipment for triple-play residential and business services and optical components and subsystems for access, metro and long-haul markets, continues to work with En-Touch Systems to bring all-optical connectivity to new residential communities in the greater Houston area.

To serve its continuing needs through 2011, En-Touch will put in place significantly more Enablence equipment to deliver advanced video, data and voice services over fiber as it expands its communications network. Seventy per cent of this order is for Enablence's market-leading gigabit capable ONT products, including the 1321 model with RF return, which will be used to deliver broadband multi-play services, and the 1320, which will be used to deliver voice and ultra-fast Internet connectivity.

En-Touch is a facilities-based local exchange carrier that provides Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services to 25 Master Planned Residential Communities in the Houston area. About one-third of its 17,000 subscribers are served by FTTH, while the remainder -- residents of older communities built between the mid 1990s and mid 2000s – are still served by an HFC plant. En-Touch is also using the same Enablence technologies to serve a growing number of business customers featuring speeds, reliability and capabilities that the competition just can't match. Whether it's a small business customer with a few local telephone lines and internet access or a large complex business account with 500 Mb/s Ethernet requirements, Enablence technologies provide a simple elegant solution.

En-Touch first partnered with Enablence in 2005 to connect residential greenfield developments with an FTTH network rather than HFC. Today, about 3,700 En-Touch subscribers are connected to a GE-PON fiber network supported by Enablence's TRIDENT7 Universal Access Platform. The TRIDENT7 is the only platform on the market today that supports all three standards in use for FTTx deployment -- GPON, Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON), or Active Ethernet Optical Network.

"After five years, Enablence remains our service provider of choice," said Jason Bone, En-Touch's Director of Engineering. "The reliability is second to none. Enablence's technology is easy to install, easy to support and we are confident it will continue to serve us well as we expand our fiber network to keep pace with new home construction."

"En-Touch, like many service providers working with residential developers, has discovered that there is a substantial business opportunity for FTTH in greenfield developments," said Tim Thorsteinson, CEO of Enablence. "New home construction is the ideal time to deploy a truly future-proof broadband architecture that will provide great value for money and ROI over the long-term. The availability of FTTH services has proven to be a strong selling point with homebuyers who want high-bandwidth connectivity for leisure, entertainment and teleworking."

About En-Touch Systems

En-Touch Systems serves 25 Master Planned Residential Communities in the Houston area with a bundled multi-play service that has achieved an impressive 66 per cent penetration rate among homeowners. Since 1996, En-Touch has served more than 17,000 homes and businesses by positioning itself as the "preferred technology company" of developers in the region. Its services also include alarm monitoring, advanced in-home technology and retail energy delivery and management. As the voice, video and data market evolved, En-Touch started to implement fiber versus its traditional twisted pair copper and coaxial plant to provide greater quality and reliability and avoid the constant upgrade requirements driven by converging technologies and services in the home.
