Innovative Law Firm Allies With Innovative Businesses

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - June 25, 2009) - Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) partners with the eureka project.

Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS) continues to demonstrate its commitment to local entrepreneurs in knowledge- and technology-based businesses. The law firm recently signed on as the newest Corporate Partner of the eureka project: Smartpark's business incubator.

The eureka project, a high-tech business incubator, located at Smartpark at The University of Manitoba, helps launch technology-based businesses. New ventures seeking the help of incubators are three times more likely to succeed than new companies that do not seek help of an incubator. The eureka project provides support to companies wishing to commercialize their technologies, in the areas of strategic planning, business and marketing plan development, financing advice, and product development. Clients also benefit from reduced rental rates, turnkey offices, equipment usage, and IT support.

"We are very pleased to announce this partnership with the eureka project" says Don Douglas, TDS CEO and Managing Partner. Douglas adds, "TDS strongly believes in the Smartpark's business incubator program, and we are excited about the opportunity to become actively involved in supporting the success of Manitoba's leading businesses of the future".

TDS offers valuable support to Manitoba's tech-based companies in the areas of intellectual property protection, business law, private equity and venture capital investment and corporate governance, among others. In addition, Acumen Corporate Development Inc., an affiliate of TDS, helps clients plan and execute growth strategies.

"We are excited that TDS has made this strong statement in support of local entrepreneurs", said Gary Brownstone, Director of the eureka project. Brownstone adds, "The match seemed ideal. TDS is an innovative firm with creative approaches and a depth of talent, similar to the ten client companies at the eureka project. The firm has shown a strong understanding of the unique needs of young businesses and of tech-based businesses and we see this as a perfect fit for our client companies."

Partners of the eureka project benefit from becoming highly visible to Smartpark's entire community of business owners. They will have the opportunity to participate in networking events and present their products and services to Smartpark's 30 tenant companies.

Individuals or companies interested in joining TDS in sponsoring the eureka project can contact the Director, Gary Brownstone.
