Innovative Solution Deepens Wireless Matrix's Relationship With Leading Wireless Service Provider

Order for Monitoring and Reporting Services with New Customer Carries Future Potential

RESTON, VIRGINIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 16, 2008) - For one national wireless service provider, monitoring field assets with Wireless Matrix (TSX:WRX) has extended beyond vehicle location and driving habits. Under a recent agreement between the two companies, asset monitoring services will be deployed on an initial 108 mobile generators fielded by the wireless service provider in Southern California.

The solution is an innovation for the wireless service provider, leveraging off-the-shelf GPS technologies from Wireless Matrix to automate and validate operation of mobile power equipment. Using Wireless Matrix FleetOutlook, the wireless service provider will capture generator starts and stops, verify Service Meter Hours (SMH) run-time of the equipment, and verify location and operation real-time.

"Fixed site remote monitoring is a service area in which we're well-established," said Michael Jakab, Wireless Matrix vice president of Sales and Marketing, "but this deployment is the first time our GPS solutions have been fielded to monitor non-driver mobile assets such as generators. This is an area of great future potential for our solutions."

The deployment allows the wireless service provider to upgrade its current process, which requires manual, on-site capture of the data in spreadsheets. It also provides additional security by providing the service provider the means to locate generators in the field, reducing the opportunity for them to be removed or stolen.

A successful deployment with the wireless service provider's portable generators carries potential for the solution to be extended to fixed-site generators and the service provider's technicians, both in Southern California and on a nationwide scale.

"Building on the strength of a successful relationship allows us to provide customers with greater value, while also building broader applicability for our solutions," said J. Richard Carlson, president and CEO of Wireless Matrix. "We highly value opportunities such as these to innovate with our key clients, and establish new ways to leverage our core competencies."
