inovia Extends Their Economical Foreign Patent Filing Services Into the Philippines and Georgia

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 8, 2009) - inovia, the global leader in reducing costs associated with foreign patent filing, announced that it is now offering PCT national stage entry into the Philippines and Georgia, extending its global network to more than sixty countries. The company is pleased to welcome the law firm of E.B. Astudillo and Associates as its new agent in the Philippines and to announce that Papula Nevinpat, its existing Finnish agent, will also now offer filing services into Georgia.

David Nelson, CEO at inovia, notes: "This is great news for global patent applicants and patent firms. We have seen a tremendous interest from law firms, corporations and universities, all looking to establish a more streamlined and cost-effective method of handling foreign patent filings. With more than sixty countries and regions now represented in our global network, inovia offers comprehensive coverage of both developed and developing countries for filing at the National Phase of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) or European patent validation. The Philippines and Georgia are both countries with growing economies for which there has been considerable demand from our clients. We will continue to add new countries in line with our commitment to deliver a best-in-class foreign patent filing service."

Enrico B. Astudillo, Esq., Founder of E.B. Astudillo and Associates, notes: "We are very proud to join the inovia network and share their philosophy of promoting global patent protection. We have an extensive practice in the prosecution of patent and trademark applications in the Philippines and coordinate those activities for our clients throughout the world. We handle patent interferences, patent and trademark opinions, trademark oppositions and cancellations, due diligence studies, technology transfers and licensing."

Nelson believes this announcement is particularly beneficial to patent owners in the consumer goods sector who are attracted to filing in the Philippines because of its large population and growing middle class. This development should also appeal to patent owners in the electronics assembly, textiles, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals industries in which the Philippines is strongly represented.
