Inphi Announces Industry's First 32 Gbps Single Chip Quad Linear MZ Driver at ECOC 2014

Latest Technology Advancement Enables Higher Capacity, Lower Power 100G Coherent Solutions in Small Form Factors

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 22, 2014) - Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed, mixed signal semiconductor solutions for the communications, data center, and computing markets, today announced availability of the Inphi IN3216DZ, the first single chip quad channel linear Mach Zehnder driver in bare die form to address the network needs for 100G coherent systems in small form factors for the metro market. Specifically designed to be co-packaged with MZ modulators, the IN3216DZ will reduce size and cost of 100G coherent systems to enable higher density metro solutions. Inphi will showcase its new Mach Zehnder driver in its booth #410 at ECOC 2014 in Cannes, France, September 21-25, 2014.

"Today's 100G coherent transponders consume up to 80W and come in relatively large 5"x7" form factors. Inphi's IN3216DZ will enable low power 100G coherent modules that dissipate less than 30W and fit into much smaller CFP form factors, all while reducing cost," said Keith Nellis, senior product manager, Optical Interconnect at Inphi. "We are committed to bringing new products and innovative thinking to address our customers' high bandwidth and channel capacity needs. We're excited how our IN3216DZ will bring new realities into the 100G coherent optical module markets."

Social media, live streaming and big data analytics are only a few of the trends that drive end users' need for more bandwidth and higher speeds. Inphi's IN3216DZ, designed to enable the deployments of 100G coherent systems in the metro market, is another milestone addressing the insatiable hunger for higher bandwidth throughout the infrastructure from long haul to metro and data centers.

"The majority of 100G coherent deployment will remain in long haul applications until the cost of 100G coherent interfaces drops to a point where it is more competitive with 10G for shorter metro applications. Inphi's low power, driver die solution for lower cost coherent optics is a good example of how this happens," said Andrew Schmitt, principal analyst, Carrier Transport Networking at Infonetics Research.
