Inphi Enables Next Generation Cloud Computing With Expanded 100 Gbps Portfolio

Coherent Technology Designed to Reduce Power Consumption and Lower System Costs for High-Speed Optical Networks

TURIN, ITALY--(Marketwire - September 20, 2010) -  Inphi Corporation, a fabless provider of high-speed analog semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced, the expansion of its 100 Gbps coherent product portfolio with the new Inphi IN3212SZ Single-Ended Mach-Zehnder Driver that is designed to enable the rollout of next generation 40 Gbps, 100 Gbps and cloud computing network infrastructures. The new product will be shown at Inphi's Booth #367 at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) 2010 in Turin, Italy on September 20-22.

"We believe that ubiquitous broadband connectivity is continuing to drive application growth to meet consumer demand for faster, 'always-on' Internet access. As a result, the increase in IP traffic on carrier networks is creating a need for optical communication systems to move from 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps," said Loi Nguyen, Vice President of Networking, Communications and Multi-Market Products at Inphi. "Inphi leveraged its core competencies in performance, power, process and packaging to develop the new IN3212SZ solution. We believe this addition to our 100 Gbps product portfolio will enable design teams to integrate better resiliency, longer transmission reach, and lower power consumption capabilities into systems for next generation optical networking and cloud computing infrastructure builds."

Now sampling, the Inphi IN3212SZ is a 32 Gbps Single-Ended Mach-Zehnder Driver for 100 Gbps Dual-Polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DP-QPSK) and 40 Gbps Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK) optical transmission applications. The IN3212SZ delivers more than 7.0Vpp output swing and dissipates 1.6W, resulting in lower power dissipation at this high-speed. The IN3212SZ is available in a high reliability, hermetically sealed compact 7X14mm ceramic Land Grid Array (LGA) surface mount package, which reduces the space and costs compared to traditional metal package offerings with GPPO connectors.

Company Also Announces the Availability of the Inphi 2850TA TIA
In addition to the new IN3212SZ Mach-Zehnder Driver, Inphi also today announced the immediate availability of the Inphi 2850TA dual-channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA) designed for 40G and 100G coherent receiver solutions. The Inphi 2850TA is designed to provide receiver makers with the ability to build 40G and 100G coherent receivers for long-haul, ultra long-haul, and metro regional networks.

"We worked closely with Inphi to design their high-performance 2850TA coherent technology into our receivers for 100G," said Andreas Umbach, Co-Founder and CEO at u²t Photonics AG. "Thanks to Inphi's commitment and collaboration we are now shipping 100 Gbps coherent receivers to large OEMs to deploy in their telecom networks."
