Inphi Introduces Its High Sensitivity and Lowest Power TIA/LIA for 100 Gigabit Ethernet

Inphi's IN2841TA Interoperable With Inphi's iPHY(TM) CMOS PHY Solutions for Next Generation Data Center and Communications Infrastructures

GENEVA--(Marketwire - Sep 19, 2011) - Inphi Corporation (NYSE: IPHI), a leading provider of high-speed analog semiconductor solutions for the communications and computing markets, today announced the new IN2841TA, a transimpedance amplifier (TIA)/limiting amplifier (LIA) for 100 Gbps Ethernet (GbE) receivers. Interoperable with Inphi's iPHY 100GbE CMOS PHY solutions for next generation line cards (see announcement here), the Inphi IN2841TA offers the lowest power, best sensitivity, and high overload. Together, the IN2841TA and iPHY CMOS 100GbE PHY solutions will enable next generation low power and high port density 100GbE transceivers to address bandwidth bottlenecks in next generation data center and communications infrastructures powering cloud computing.

Today, 100GbE CFP modules are large and power hungry, which limits port density on next generation networking line cards. To address this limitation, the industry is migrating to lower power, smaller form-factor CFP2 solutions. The Inphi IN2841TA offers the best sensitivity, excellent overload, at the lowest power to enable next generation, smaller-form factor, lower power CFP2 modules.

"The relentless hunger for more bandwidth and the demands for faster, always-on access to high-definition video, multimedia content and applications are requiring carriers and data centers to scale their networks from 10GbE to 100GbE," said Loi Nguyen, Vice President Networking, Communications and Multi-Market Products at Inphi. "With its latest TIA amplifier, Inphi continues its commitment to enabling the roll out of cloud computing by offering a solution with the low power and high-performance necessary to power these networks."

"We worked closely with Inphi to design their high-performance Inphi IN2841TA into our 100Gbps Receiver Optical Sub-Assemblies (ROSAs) because it allows us to offer our customers the lowest power, fully-integrated 100GbE receiver solution to enable their next generation CFP2 products," said Sven Krüger, Vice President Product Management at Cube Optics.

Now sampling, the Inphi IN2841TA TIA/LIA is designed to support data rates up to 28 Gbps and offers a wide input dynamic range due to its low input referred noise and its high input overload. The IN2841TA has low power consumption and operates off of a standard single +3.3 V power supply.
