InQuinox Breaks 1TBpm In-Line Deduplication Backup Throughput Barrier

Updated SD3 Appliance Sets New Throughput Record

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - January 12, 2011) - InQuinox announces enhancements to its SD3 appliance which now provides an in-line deduplicated backup throughput of 10TBph (TeraBytes per hour) for each SD3 storage node. With the largest appliance supporting up to six storage nodes in a single appliance, the InQuinox SD3 achieves 60TBph, thereby breaking the 1TBpm (TeraByte per minute) barrier.

"Through our recent enhancements, the SD3 is now capable of delivering an astonishing 10TBph per storage node, as opposed to our competitors which average 2TBph. Our innovative architectural design has pushed the industry standard beyond all known limits," said Brad Hargett, InQuinox's CEO. "Because we focus on restoration speed, our customers are capable of restoring client data at over 1TBph, the fastest deduplicated restore performance available. The SD3 is the only deduplication appliance that can be used in an efficient disk-to-disk-to-tape solution, which is not possible with any of our competitors."

By utilizing quad-core CPUs, appropriately sized memory, specialized disk controllers, industry-standard clustering software, a combination of SDDs and high-performance, resilient self-healing disk arrays, coupled with software and hardware RAID techniques, the SD3 becomes the most powerful purpose-built appliance which establishes this new 1TBpm plateau.

"The in-line deduplication throughput achieved by the SD3 is a remarkable technical feat and sets a new standard for high-end appliances," said James Bagley, Senior Analyst at Storage Strategies NOW.

The SD3 appliance scales from 1TB to 192TB of usable storage, consumes only 36U of rack space, and dramatically reduces a company's backup storage footprint by eliminating several racks of storage.

"Competitors like Data Domain have fallen even further behind, beating them with a price/performance profile of nearly 10:1 over their highest performing solution," stated Hargett.

Built in the USA, the SD3 family of deduplication appliances provides value on multiple levels including performance, reliability, scalability, return on investment and being ecologically friendly. See video interview:
