Insomniac's Beyond Wonderland, Bay Area Draws Approximately 50,000 Fans Over Two-Days

Successful Two-Day Festival Featured Large-Scale Art Installations, Theatrical Performers, Music & More

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 1, 2013) - This weekend, approximately 50,000 fans journeyed down the rabbit hole for the 2nd annual Beyond Wonderland, Bay Area music and arts festival. With two days of spectacular weather and happy vibes, the two-day festival made a successful debut at Shoreline Amphitheater & Grounds in Mountain View.

"When Insomniac plans a festival like Beyond Wonderland, we work year round to bring fans a unique and creative experience," said Pasquale Rotella, CEO and founder of Insomniac. "At this show we unveiled an insane 40-foot giant caterpillar along with interactive experiences to provide surprises to the fans we love so much. I'm walking away with so many great memories from this weekend and I'm already thinking of ideas for next year."

As guests entered the transformed grounds, theatrical performers, including sparkling flamingo ballerinas and stilt walkers, greeted them with cupcakes and smiles. Performers were also on hand at a brand new attraction, the "Kandi Shop," where fans created their own bracelets and jewelry for free by using more than 1.5 million decorative beads.

More than 50 emerging and globally celebrated musical acts performed across four stages. Amongst the four stages was the "Queens Domain," which Insomniac transformed into an animatronic piece of art featuring a larger than life 40-foot animated caterpillar. The caterpillar sat amongst a stage filled with flowers, giant mushrooms and foliage while waving his legs and looking out at the crowd through LED eyes. The set spanned over 200 feet, included 120 feet of LED video screens and required more than 240 gallons of paint.

A collection of extraordinary art installations added to the whimsical atmosphere, including Knight Owl and the Wide Awake Art Car, which were both designed and engineered specifically for Insomniac.

Insomniac's next adventure is their annual Halloween festival Escape from Wonderland, which takes place on Oct. 26 at San Manuel Amphitheater & Grounds.
