Insperity Awards Three College Scholarships to High School Seniors


RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - Jun 20, 2012) - Insperity, Inc. (NYSE: NSP), a leading provider of human resources and business performance solutions for America's best businesses, today announced three winners of its 2012 Insperity Merit Scholarship administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The scholarship recipients are Vishesh Gundappa, Alexandra Salomon and Shea Smitherman.

The Merit Scholarship is offered annually to children of Insperity corporate employees and children of employees at Insperity client companies. The students receive a $1,000 scholarship for each year of college attended, up to four years. Recipients are selected based on academic record throughout their high school career, significant activities and contributions to school and community, test scores, school recommendations, and student essays about personal characteristics, activities, plans and goals.

Vishesh Gundappa graduated from Enloe High School in Raleigh, N.C., and will attend The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He plans to pursue a course of study that prepares him for medical school. While in high school, Vishesh was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program that combined a rigorous curriculum with community service. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America and the Spanish Club. Vishesh won numerous medals at the Science Olympiad and served as a board member for Science Days. He enjoys sports and was a member of Enloe's track and field team and an avid basketball player. Vishesh is the son of Shobha and Mahesh Gundappa, who is vice president of engineering at Blue Source, an Insperity client.

Alexandra Salomon will graduate as valedictorian from Calabasas High School in Calabasas, Calif. in July, and will attend Northwestern University. She is an AP Scholar and a Goldseal Bearer from the California Scholarship Federation. Alexandra plans to pursue a career in biomedical engineering and research. In high school she was a member of the Math Honor Society, New Global Citizens and the varsity golf team. Alexandra has been a Girl Scout for 12 years and also served as vice president of her Girl Scout Ambassador Troop for three years. During the past year she has volunteered as an intern at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at UCLA studying the behavior of fruit flies. She is the daughter of Penny Grosz and Michael Salomon, who is an Insperity business performance advisor in Glendale, Calif.

Shea Smitherman is a graduate of Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas. She will attend The University of Alabama and major in theatre arts. Shea plans to pursue a career in the theatre and enjoys singing, acting, dancing, directing and choreography. In addition to being an AP Scholar and National Merit Commended Scholar, she has received numerous academic honors and awards and was a member of the National Honor Society, French National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. Her involvement in TCA Upper School Main Stage Productions included numerous performances, many of which were leading roles. Shea was a member of the high school dance and drill team as well as a junior varsity cheerleader. In addition, Shea was very active in her community through the National Charity League where she served in many leadership roles, accumulating 122 leadership hours and 147 philanthropy hours. She is the daughter of Shannon and Tanya Smitherman, who is an attorney with Henry Oddo Austin and Fletcher, an Insperity client.
