Instacart Launches "Instacart Deals"

Partners With Top Brands to Offer Discounts to Customers

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - November 05, 2015) - Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, announced today that it is launching Instacart Deals, a new platform that will offer special deals and discounts directly to customers, allowing them to self select the products that best fit their everyday budgetary and grocery needs.

Instacart Deals are developed in partnership with consumer packaged goods brands to provide consumers discounts on their products and simplify the consumer experience. Many of the top brands have partnered with Instacart on this new platform for launch with 100s of discounts available everyday, and Instacart plans to bring many more discount offerings online through a growing number of companies.

"We are thrilled to be announcing new deals for our customers," said Dan Bourgault, Head of Brand Partnerships at Instacart. "This streamlined platform adds flexibility, efficiency, and effectiveness for both our brand partners and our consumers when it comes to discount offers. This new innovation in the CPG space is just one more way that Instacart is changing the on-demand grocery industry to meet customer needs on their terms."

Customers can navigate to Instacart Deals from the Instacart homepage, or by visiting instacart.com/store/deals. When they click to add discounted products to their basket, the virtual coupons are immediately applied, and they can see their savings at checkout.

Today's announcement is another example of how Instacart continues to expand its business model by breaking new ground in the retail space while continuing to put customers' needs first. Brands can maximize their marketing dollars: they are only paying for redemptions, as opposed to the typical setup of paying for distribution and guessing on potential redemption rates. All the while, customers are given access to easy to shop, one-click deals -- ending the days of coupon cutting and wandering stores to find the exact promotion.

"General Mills has always been a leader in the digital coupon space," said Matt Pierre, Director of Ecommerce at General Mills. "And we are excited to be partnering with Instacart to continue this tradition to our consumers."

"We are excited to be partnering with Instacart and launching this effort that will save customers time and money in a simple and effective way," said Doug Straton, Vice-President, Digital-eCommerce for Unilever. "This new platform revolutionizes the coupon space by allowing shoppers to browse for deals and offers on Unilever brands such as Dove, Lipton, and Ben & Jerry's items every day across Instacart's broad retailer network, and see the savings immediately at checkout. Importantly, it should prove to be extremely efficient in targeting the right shoppers for those offers."

Originally launched in San Francisco, and since expanded into many other cities, Instacart has fundamentally changed the traditional grocery delivery space by connecting customers with personal shoppers who shop for and deliver grocery orders in as little as one hour. This eliminates the need for costly infrastructure such as inventory, warehouses and trucks. In January 2015, Forbes named Instacart "America's Most Promising Company."

New customers can open an account at www.Instacart.com, and get free delivery on their first order of $10 or more. The vast majority of Instacart customers select two-hour delivery for a charge of just $3.99. One-hour delivery is also available, for $5.99. The minimum order size is just $10. Instacart also offers Instacart Express -- an annual membership that eliminates delivery fees for all orders of $35 or more. The cost is just $99 per year.
