Instacart Partners With Portland's Food Front Cooperative Grocery

Partnership Marks Instacart's First Relationship With a Cooperative in Portland; Delivery Options Include Grocery & Prepared Foods

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - June 09, 2016) - Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, announced today a partnership with Portland's Food Front Cooperative Grocery. This partnership marks Instacart's first relationship with a cooperative in Portland. The items available for delivery include a curated selection of local, organic produce, sustainably raised meat and seafood, bulk items, and prepared foods. Beginning today, Portland residents can order from a wide variety of Food Front's prepared foods and grocery products, and have them delivered to their doorsteps in as little as one hour.

In 1972, a group of neighbors in Northwest Portland joined together to sell groceries out of a little store on 23rd avenue. Their mission was to provide their community with a place to buy good quality groceries that couldn't be found in regular supermarkets. Today, the store is owned by over 10,000 people with two locations. Instacart will be delivering from both of them.

"We are committed to bridging the gap between local farmers and Portland residents," said Eamon Molloy, General Manager at Food Front Cooperative Grocery. "With on-demand delivery through Instacart, we can offer local, sustainable, and high quality products to more Portland residents."

"We believe that all of our customers should have access to healthy foods -- whether or not they have time to go to the grocery store," said Sean Twersky, Portland General Manager, at Instacart. "We're excited to partner with Food Front Co-op to give Portland customers easy access to local grocery products and healthy prepared foods."

Food Front Cooperative Grocery delivery area will be available throughout Pearl District, Downtown Portland, Old Town Chinatown, Northwest District, North Portland, Hollywood, Irvington, Alameda, Grant Park, Laurelhurst, Southwest Portland, and Raleigh Hills.

How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.Instacart.com or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their city and store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or some scheduled time in the future) and check out. About Food Front Cooperative Grocery

Our Mission: We bridge the gap between local producers and the people of Portland. We fill the shelves of our neighborhood grocery stores with local, fresh foods and all the flavors of each season so you can eat colorfully and live vibrantly.

Our History: In 1972 a group of neighbors in Northwest Portland joined together to sell groceries out of a little store on NW 23rd Avenue. Their mission was to provide their community with a place to buy good quality groceries that couldn't be found in regular supermarkets.

Even though this first grocery store was small, the impact of people coming together to provide for themselves and their community was immense. Over the years our store has moved a few times, and is now a thriving cooperative owned by over 12,000 people. We operate out of two locations in Portland and we are committed to providing the finest quality groceries, farm-direct local produce, superb meat and seafood, and much more to our customers.
