Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario: Ottawa CA Re-Elected District Association President

Catherine Gaudet leads local Chartered Accountants

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2009) - Ottawa Chartered Accountant and prominent business leader Catherine Gaudet, CA, has been re-elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario's Ottawa District CA Association. The District Association is the CA profession's local presence and organizes activities that benefit local Chartered Accountants and the community at large.

In addition to helping to serve, represent and provide fellowship among local CAs, the District Association also helps bring the Institute's many programs to its members and helps organize their contribution to important CA community events such as tax clinics for people with low incomes.

Ms. Gaudet is the Director, Finance and Material Management with the Supreme Court of Canada in Ottawa. A CA since 1985, she spent 11 years with KPMG before joining the public service as a Principal Consultant with Public Works and Government Services Canada. As a volunteer, Ms. Gaudet has been involved in various community organizations, such as Big Sisters, Girl Guides and the Gloucester Hornets Soccer Club. She has been a member of the Ottawa District Association for six years.

"Last year we surveyed our members to see how their district association can serve them better," said Gaudet. "In 2009-10, I would like to focus on offering more of the networking and PD opportunities that our members want to see."

"The CA profession is in the forefront of our province's economy, and important to communities of all types and sizes," said Rod Barr, FCA, President and CEO of the Institute. "We believe that strong District Associations help build and strengthen the CA designation and our profession's contribution to Ontario's prosperity."
