Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario Elects 2013-2014 Governing Council

Council membership includes a cross-section of business and community leaders

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 16, 2013) - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario has introduced its 2013-2014 governing Council at its Annual General Meeting. Eight members were either elected or re-elected to the Council.

"Now that our members have voted to support unification with CMA Ontario, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario has many interesting opportunities to explore," said Robert Scullion, FCPA, FCA, Chair of the Institute. "At the same time, our recent election has resulted in renewed Council comprised of top Chartered Accountants with a wide range of backgrounds, experience and expertise. We believe this team is well placed to make the key decisions that will ensure unification proceeds in a manner that results in the best possible outcomes for the accounting profession and the people of Ontario."

The Council boasts a cross-section of business and community leaders from many areas of practice, including public accounting, industry, the public sector and academe. They hail from communities across Ontario, including Oakville, Ottawa, Richmond Hill, Thunder Bay, Toronto and Waterloo.

Members elected to the Institute's Council for a two-year term commencing 2013-2014 are:

  • Kathleen Bell, CPA, CA, Partner, Deloitte LLP, Toronto
  • Chris Boland, CPA, CA, Principal, Chris Boland Professional Corporation, Ottawa
  • Georgina Daniels, CPA, CA, Manager of Finance and Strategic Quality Initiatives, Thunder Bay District Health Unit
  • Renzo Francescutti, CPA, CA, Partner, KPMG LLP, Toronto
  • Michel Lavigne, CPA, CA, Partner, Vaillancourt Lavigne & Associée LLP, Ottawa
  • Catherine Russell, CPA, CA, Partner, PwC, Toronto
  • Dave Vert, CPA, CA, Program Director, School of Accounting and Finance, University of Waterloo

The other eight elected members of Council, whose two-year terms continue until the end of the 2013-2014 year, are:

The Ontario government appoints four public representative positions to the Council. Currently, they are Robert Wong, Graham Parsons, Tim Kennish and Ginny Dybenko.
