Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of Ontario: Ontario's CAs Announce "Rule the Tube" Winners

Entries from Mississauga and North York Win

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2011) - The winners of the first Rule the Tube CA video competition have been announced: Syed Ali of Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School and of Jeremy Vo of the Schulich School of Business. They each receive $1,500 and kudos from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario for their imaginative and exciting videos.

Schulich's Jeremy Vo won in the university student category for "CAs: Heroes of the Modern World".

Mississauga resident Syed Ali won in the high school student category for "A CA's Worth 1,000 Words".

Jeremy's winning video can be viewed at: and Syed's is available at

The complete list of finalists also included:

  • Danny Hoshi of Gordon Graydon for "Danny The CA: The Prequel",
  • Leslie Kwok of Richmond Green Secondary School for "Limitless",
  • Aki Sugimoto of York University for "21 Reasons",
  • Kiran Chandrashkar of Brock University for "Welcome to the World"

Ontario university and high school students were given a chance to bring out their inner video auteur - whether it's Christopher Nolan serious, Will Ferrell funny or Andy Samberg silly - in the first Rule the Tube CA video competition. The theme is "Why being a Chartered Accountant rocks" and the winning entry gets fame and glory in addition to the cash.

"As part of our overall Rule the World campaign for prospective future CAs, we gave students a chance to show-off their video-making skills and compete for cash," said Mona Ghiami, Director, Career Information with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. "Choosing the six finalists was a challenge, but choosing a winner was even more difficult. So we had to select two - one from high school and one from university."

A big part of the contest was based on how well people promoted their video. The more views, likes and positive ratings received on YouTube, the better, although negative ratings and comments were not counted. Aside from $1,500 for the winners, each of the finalists will receive $200.

The Rule the Tube video competition - just one more reason why Chartered Accountants rock.
