Institutional Investor: UBS, KBC Home to Europe's Most Lucrative Stock-Trading Ideas

Institutional Investor Publishes TIM Group's Annual Ranking of Firms and Individuals That Excel at Alpha Capture

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Feb 15, 2016) - UBS is the top bulge-bracket firm in Europe when it comes to profitable stock recommendations, while Belgium's KBC Securities is unsurpassed among mid-tier and boutique institutions, according to TIM Group, a London-based operator of the world's largest network connecting investors with institutional brokerages' trading ideas.

Complete survey results can be found online at on www.institutionalinvestor.com.

To find out which firms and individuals are the sell side's top performers, TIM Group assessed the roughly 235,000 equity recommendations it distributed to hedge funds and traditional investment management firms last year.

"A primary goal of TIM Group is to help funds find and connect with brokers who have great track records in the markets that interest them most, and therefore evaluating performance is central to our mandate," explains William Herkelrath, New York-based head of business development. "Publicly celebrating excellence within our network was a logical step."

Contributors are evaluated on the basis of idea performance, volume and consistency, among other factors, and rankings are compiled for each of the markets that TIM Group serves: Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, Japan and North America. Winners in the other regions will be published later this year.

Insofar as individual champions are concerned, Tatiana Volochkovich of Morgan Stanley is No. 1 among European equity salespeople who work at bulge brackets and Anders Knudsen of SEB Equities is the winner among those employed by mid-tier firms.

Through a special arrangement with TIM Group, Institutional Investor is the exclusive publisher of this year's Top Performers. The two organizations are also working together on a new II survey asking buy-side traders and related professionals to evaluate the execution and trading services providers they work with.
