Insulair Reaches Billionth Cup Milestone

VERNALIS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 22, 2006 -- Insulair, Inc., maker of the innovative, patented triple wall insulated paper cup, announced today the company will produce its one-billionth cup during May 2006. Sold at retail stores nationwide and served in restaurants, coffee shops, and convenience stores around the world, Insulair cups utilize a built-in sleeve made from a layer of insulating corrugated paper that keeps coffee hot and protects consumers' hands. The Insulair cup eliminates the need for add-on cup sleeves, double cups and polystyrene foam cups. Insulair reaches this milestone after having grown sales 1,400 percent since 2000.

"We're excited to hit the one-billionth cup marker," said Insulair CEO and triple-wall cup inventor Claus Sadlier. "We have come a long way from the day we sold our first insulated paper cup to a small coffee shop in San Francisco eight years ago, to selling over one billion Insulair cups today."

According to the Foodservice and Packaging Institute, the total demand for hot beverage cups in the U.S. is 44 billion units annually and data suggest that coffee-to-go is one of the fastest growing and most profitable segments of the food service industry.

"The demand for Insulair cups continues to grow as operators upgrade coffee programs and consumers continue to demand high quality and environmentally friendly packaging products," say Sadlier.

Leading technological advances in paper cup design, Insulair recently introduced the EcoSmart Cup™ -- the world's first insulated paper cup to use post-consumer recycled material. The insulating middle layer is 99 percent post-consumer recycled paper, giving the whole cup a minimum of 12 percent recycled paper content.
