InsWeb Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against Autobytel and Related Entities

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - March 11, 2008) - InsWeb Corp. (NASDAQ: INSW), a leading online insurance marketplace, today announced that on March 11, 2008 it filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California in San Diego against Autobytel, Inc., Autobytel I Corporation (formerly known as AVV, Inc.), and Dominion Enterprises (current owners of AVV). In the lawsuit, InsWeb asserts infringement of U.S. Patent No. 6,898,597 entitled "Event Log," against such parties, and seeks damages and a permanent injunction.

AVV was a wholly owned subsidiary of Autobytel until substantially all of its assets were sold to Dominion Enterprises in January 2008. AVV's business included the operation, sale and promotion of a product known as WebControl that allows automobile dealers to track and log internet leads and sales activity. InsWeb learned of the infringing technology in researching its defenses to a patent suit filed by Autobytel.

InsWeb has not previously asserted this patent against any third party and the outcome of this litigation is uncertain. InsWeb is under no obligation, and expressly disclaims any obligation, to update or alter any of the information above, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
