INTA Joins Forces With U.S. Chamber of Commerce to Combat Counterfeiting and Piracy

Association Invites Area Members and Press to Participate in Events Aimed at Protecting Brands, Consumers and Jobs

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 17, 2007) - Today the International Trademark Association (INTA) announces that it is co-sponsoring the Los Angeles Counterfeiting and Piracy Awareness Week. As a member-based organization, INTA is dedicated to protecting brand owners' rights and educating the public against the global threat of illegitimate goods and their harmful impact on consumers and the economy.

This event, hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is a weeklong series of educational and media events throughout the Los Angeles area that highlights the costs, risks and threats posed by counterfeiting and piracy.

"We are honored to co-sponsor this event and thank the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for developing this program as it effectively draws attention to the social and economic dangers associated with these fraudulent and illegal activities," said INTA Executive Director, Alan Drewsen.

These events underscore the fact that counterfeiting and piracy are not only local and regional issues, but that they also pose a global threat. Each day's events will address specific topics about this growing crisis and its impact on local businesses and consumers.

To help garner support, INTA cordially invites Association members and the press, free of charge, to participate in these events and to meet with Michelle Sara King, INTA's Government Relations Manager from Washington, D.C.

To arrange an on-site meeting with Michelle Sara King, please contact her at (202) 491-7451.
