InteGreat's EHR Solution Enables Christie Clinic to Treat Patients at Temporary Site After Storm Forces Facility Closure

CHAMPAIGN, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 4, 2006 -- When a severe thunderstorm hit Champaign, Ill., one Sunday evening in April, a power outage and roadblocks forced Christie Clinic to close its Windsor primary care satellite facility for three days. Instead of canceling all scheduled patient appointments, the clinic staff was treating patients the next morning at a temporary site in the main clinic building four miles across town, thanks to InteGreat's IC-Chart®, an electronic health records (EHR) system. IC-Chart eliminates the need for paper records and provides real-time remote access to patient information via the web.

The Windsor clinic staff set up exam rooms and moved PCs, telephones and other equipment to an empty fourth floor space in the main building. After phone service was deployed to the temporary site and the Windsor facility's calls were rerouted, the staff notified patients about the temporary location and rescheduled appointments. Patients requiring acute medical services were instructed to go to the temporary site. Christie Clinic also enlisted local media to provide community updates.

"InteGreat's IC-Chart enabled Windsor patients to be examined at the temporary site and fill their prescriptions at the main clinic pharmacy," states William Lane, Christie Clinic's director of information. "When a healthcare facility's operation is disrupted due to a prolonged power outage, natural disaster or other circumstances, time is of the essence to get the practice up and running to meet patients' needs. This situation clearly illustrates the benefits of an electronic health records system."
