IntelliDOT Corporation Signs Agreement With Iatric Systems, Inc. to Simplify Provisioning of Interfaces for MEDITECH Hospitals

Relationship Helps Overcome Challenges to HIS and Pharmacy System Integration

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - November 17, 2008) - IntelliDOT Corporation, a leading provider of wireless, handheld barcode point-of-care (BPOC) solutions to hospitals, today announced that it has signed an agreement with alliance partner Iatric Systems, Inc., Boxford, MA. The agreement formalizes interface pricing, implementation, and maintenance fees for customers that wish to use Iatric Systems interfaces between IntelliDOT solutions and a MEDITECH Magic or MEDITECH Client/Server Healthcare Information System (HIS).

"This agreement expands our working relationship and provides a clear and simple guide to MEDITECH HIS customers that want to implement IntelliDOT's industry-leading BPOC system using Iatric Systems' proven interfaces," said Thomas G. Klopack, president and CEO of IntelliDOT. "Together we can enhance patient safety with full integration capability to all MEDITECH information system charting and documentation functions. The perceived complexity of interfacing to MEDITECH really is a thing of the past."

"We've implemented more than 6,000 interfaces to facilities using the MEDITECH HIS," said Joel Berman, president of Iatric Systems. "We're pleased to partner with IntelliDOT Corporation to help healthcare providers work more effectively. Our interfaces will connect the customer's MEDITECH system with IntelliDOT's innovative barcode point-of-care solutions."

This agreement further strengthens a relationship between IntelliDOT and Iatric Systems. The companies have worked closely together to provide a number of interfaces for BPOC implementations at hospitals that wanted to add the IntelliDOT System to an existing MEDITECH Magic or MEDITECH Client/Server HIS.

Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, OK, implemented a successful interface between IntelliDOT Bedside Medication Administration™ (IntelliDOT BMA™) and its MEDITECH HIS in two ways: through an interface purchased from MEDITECH and through an interface provided by Iatric Systems. In one scenario, ADT information and pharmacy orders flow from MEDITECH to the IntelliDOT handheld via the Iatric Systems interface. In the other, the medication administration documentation the nurse enters in the IntelliDOT System flows back to populate the patient's electronic medication administration record in MEDITECH.

"Our pharmacy director can go into MEDITECH and see every medication administration that was done through IntelliDOT," said Chris Roark, CIO, Stillwater Medical Center. "Iatric Systems has the capability to provide a successful interface between IntelliDOT and MEDITECH."

"As the U.S. pushes toward a universal health record and because all hospitals do not use the same HIS vendor, interfaced clinical products will play an increasingly important role in connecting the healthcare industry," Klopack said. "Through our partnerships with Iatric Systems and other interface vendors, IntelliDOT is helping hospital CIOs look beyond interface concerns and stay focused on adopting the BPOC system that will be consistently used by nurses to eliminate five rights-related medication errors at the bedside."

The IntelliDOT System is a best-of-breed wireless, workflow manager that connects caregivers with the information systems they need at the point-of-care. Designed by nurses for nurses, the IntelliDOT System enables clinicians to perform safety checks and safely administer and document medications at the bedside using a lightweight, handheld device. The IntelliDOT System satisfies Joint Commission standards for patient identification and assures accuracy by verifying the five rights of medication administration: right medication, right dose, right route, right patient, right time; as well as ensuring required follow-up documentation, such as pain scale, is performed in a timely manner and accurately recorded.
