Intellifiber Networks Launches Ethernet Over Copper Across Entire Network

Intellifiber Now Largest Ethernet Over Copper Provider in Mid-Atlantic and Northeast

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - October 12, 2009) - COMPTEL Plus Convention & Expo -- Intellifiber Networks, serving the growing network needs of enterprise, service provider and government customers, today announced that it has enabled Ethernet over Copper (EoC) capability throughout its entire network. Intellifiber has more than 400 central offices directly connected to its fiber network, providing dense EoC coverage in markets from Norfolk to Philadelphia to Cleveland. EoC allows Intellifiber to leverage existing copper infrastructure to cost effectively deliver midband Ethernet access directly to customers without having to match demand to legacy circuit sizes.

"Ethernet services continue to be a rapidly growing market segment, however widespread adoption has been limited by a lack of Ethernet first mile access," said Clint Heiden, president of Intellifiber Networks. "The dense Intellifiber footprint uniquely positions us to deliver cost-effective Ethernet services to businesses at the edge of the network."

Customers with multiple locations or a variety of end users can take advantage of Intellifiber's Ethernet Network-to-Network Interface (NNI) to leverage a single interconnect to deliver Ethernet services over any Intellifiber access circuit (e.g., EoC, SONET, fiber). Wholesale customers can also establish one or more Ethernet NNIs with Intellifiber to drive down access charges region by region.

"The Ethernet market is growing rapidly and Intellifiber's dense central office footprint positions it to leverage the growth," said Kevin Sheehan, CEO of Hatteras Networks, Inc. "Hatteras Networks' solution allows Intellifiber to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of best-in-class midband Ethernet services that wholesale customers are demanding today."

Intellifiber Networks interconnects with major data, carrier and hosting facilities in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington DC. The company also provides a range of services into a variety of centers in such markets as Norfolk, Richmond, Wilmington, Syracuse, Buffalo and Columbus, offering multiple Ethernet NNI location options. Across the Intellifiber Networks footprint, customers receive flat-rate pricing, quote responses within 24 hours, order acknowledgement and firm order commitments within 24 hours, and service activation in 10 business days or less.
