International Biomass Conference & Expo Announces a Call for Nominations for the 2013 Bioenergy Awards

Produced by BBI International, the International Biomass Conference & Expo Has Become the Largest Biomass Event in North America

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - Feb 21, 2013) - Nominations are now open for 2013 International Biomass Conference & Expo (IBCE) Bioenergy Awards. The awards will be presented during the opening general session at the 6th annual International Biomass Conference & Expo, April 8-10, 2013 in Minneapolis, MN.

Produced by BBI International, the 2013 International Biomass Conference & Expo is currently accepting nominations for two prestigious biomass industry awards that will be announced at this year's event -- the Groundbreaker of the Year Award and the Excellence in Bioenergy Award.

The Groundbreaker of the Year Award recognizes bioenergy facilities that began their construction phase since the previous year's event. The 2012 Groundbreaker of the Year was awarded to Ameresco, Inc. for their Savannah River Biomass Cogeneration facility built in Aiken, South Carolina. Jon Pucket, Manager of Fuel Procurement at Ameresco was the company representative who accepted the award.

The Excellence in Bioenergy Award is granted to an industry professional, nominated and voted on by their peers, whose contributions to the biomass industry continue to drive the industry forward. Last year's winner, Dr. William Strauss, was nominated for his tireless effort to better understand and define the carbon benefit of biomass derived energy.

"We were thrilled to recognize Dr. Strauss and Ameresco last year. This industry continues to prevail because of people and projects like last year's honorees. I'm looking forward to reviewing and discussing this year's nominees in the coming weeks," remarked Tim Portz, Executive Editor of Biomass Magazine.
