International Business Forum Issues Call for Nominations for Inaugural "Innovator Awards"

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 20, 2011) - International Business Forum (IBF), a business research group and full-service conference production company, announces the opening of nominations for their inaugural Innovator Awards program.

"Through our conferences over the years, we've had the opportunity to meet and learn about individuals who are doing extraordinary work in different technology sectors," said Craig Simak, President of International Business Forum. "Our goal with The Innovator Awards (TIA) is to create an annual, flagship awards program that gives the venture capital community a unique platform to acknowledge exceptional entrepreneurs and peers.

The Innovator Awards will be given out in the following categories:

  • The Big Idea Award: Honoring the CEO/Entrepreneur with the most disruptive business model in the past 12-18 months

  • Social Impact Award: Honoring the CEO/Entrepreneur of an up-and-coming start-up with the greatest potential to improve the quality of life

  • Turnaround of the Year: Honoring the CEO with the best come from behind story

  • "MVB" - Most Valuable Board Member: Recognizing a board member who's been the most proactive and strategic in helping a portfolio company achieve/exceed its goals and milestones

  • Rising Star Award: Honoring a venture capitalist (under 40) that has made an impressive contribution to the firm's portfolio and is on the fast track to stardom

  • RiskMaster Award: Honoring a VC that made the riskiest investment that paid off in the last 12-24 months

Honorees will be identified through a secure ballot system provided by Big Pulse, and voting will be opened once finalists have been selected. To nominate a VC or entrepreneur for these awards, please go to:

The nominations period closes on May 9th. Finalists will be announced on May 16th at which point the voting period will commence. Voting closes on May 31st, and winners will be announced June 7th at The Innovator Awards Dinner Gala at the Sofitel Hotel in Redwood City, California. The gala begins at 6:30pm.
