International Datacasting Corporation Delivers Executive Keynote on DTH Content Distribution in India

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 4, 2013) - International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC), a global leader in digital content distribution for the world's premiere broadcasters, will address executives in a keynote presentation on the critical challenges and opportunities facing Direct-to-Home (DTH) broadcasters in emerging markets at Convergence India, January 16-18, 2013, New Delhi.

Recent analyst research from Frost & Sullivan (Dec. 2012) estimates that India will see over 100 million DTH subscribers by 2018, and notes that India is set to become the largest DTH market in the world. Many of these subscribers will reside in multiple dwelling units (MDUs) which are being constructed to meet the residential demands of an exploding population. Typically, MDUs consist of apartments, gated communities, hotels, and campuses. The existing modes of broadcast content distribution in these densely populated regions are not designed for or developed to handle this level of demand.

International Datacasting's Digital Tattoo™ platform is designed to address the specific needs of content delivery to residential and commercial MDUs. IDC's unique platform enables DTH satellite operators to expand their customer base for existing services within these buildings, and to extend the range of services they offer including comprehensive Video on Demand (VOD) and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services. Digital Tattoo™ offers the ability to maximize revenues by providing cost-effective, Ethernet-based content distribution within MDUs. Ethernet content distribution within the MDU is easier, more efficient and less expensive to implement than the alternatives, and can be reused by MDU owners to offer lucrative value-added services to residents. For the MDU owner, this means that the Digital Tattoo™ platform can replace a multitude of individual dishes and antennas, and provide equal access to television broadcast services for all residents.

"IDC recognized early on the need to better reach subscribers in densely populated regions such as India, and Asia, and the need to offer valuable services," stated Gary Carter, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "In response to this growing need, IDC developed the Digital Tattoo™ platform to enable global broadcasters to maximize revenues in areas unequipped to meet demands resulting from exploding population growth."
