International Datacasting Receives DVB-S/S2 Orders for European Financial Distribution Network

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 6, 2006) - International Datacasting Corporation (TSX:IDC) announced today that it has been selected to provide their next generation of DVB-S/S2 satellite router/receivers for the expansion of a secure financial information network in Europe - with orders received and pending valued at over $2.5 million (CDN). The customer, not being named at this time for competitive disclosure reasons, is an international organization headquartered in London.

The product being supplied for this network, the SFX3101R multimedia server appliance is the latest addition to IDC's successful SuperFlex DVB-IP product line which operates over satellite using the industry's Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) and Internet Protocol (IP) standards. Designed specifically for high performance enterprise-class point-to-multipoint multicasting applications, the SFX3101R features a suite of built-in decryption options for secure operation, satellite and terrestrial network connectivity for hybrid networks and full transponder throughput up to 90 Mbps. The product is compliant to DVB-S2, the industry's latest release of the DVB standard, is compatible with legacy DVB-S networks and is also fully compliant with the recent European Union's RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) environmental regulations.

IDC President and CEO Ron Clifton said, "We are very pleased about this order for a number of reasons. The customer is well known in the industry for having very high performance standards. They selected us after months of thorough field trials on their existing satellite network and a formal factory acceptance test conducted at our Ottawa facilities and their acceptance confirms that we have one of the best products available in the market. The SFX3101R was selected because of its high throughput performance when used in conjunction with their IP security solution from Irdeto Access and our ability to operate on an existing DVB-S legacy network prior to switching to DVB-S2 to achieve additional throughput. This project also contributed positively to our 3Q results, with initial shipments in October, and has added to our order backlog with the remaining units planned to ship over the next 3 to 4 months."

DVB-S2 is quickly becoming the new industry standard of choice. With higher order modulation schemes (e.g. 8PSK and 16APSK), improved forward error correction and increased spectral efficiency, it enables satellite network operators to achieve significant bandwidth savings or increased throughput of up to 30% over legacy DVB-S operation, and even higher when combined with other application-level multimedia compression upgrades like MPEG 4 AVC for HDTV. IDC's SuperFlex SFX3101R is currently being used or under evaluation for; digital cinema, interactive distance learning, IPTV, digital radio networks and syndicated television.
