International Experts to Discuss Strategies to Combat Childhood Obesity

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 14, 2007) - In 2005, the World Health Organization estimated that globally, at least 20 million children under the age of 5 years were overweight. Can physical activity can play a significant role in reducing the epidemic of obesity in children?

The international conference on Physical Activity and Obesity in Children brings together 20 of the world's most respected researchers in the area of obesity. Canada's Dr. Claude Bouchard will lead the group in dialogue, discussion and debate to inform the development of scientifically-based community strategies to reduce the incidence of childhood and youth obesity through increased sport and physical activity participation.
