Internet Research Group to Launch Report on OpenFlow With Free Webinar

Peter Christy to Review a Year of Conversations With Industry Leaders About the Coming OpenFlow Revolution in Network Architecture

LOS ALTOS, CA--(Marketwire - December 21, 2010) - The Internet Research Group today announced the release of its latest report on technology infrastructure, entitled OpenFlow: A Revolution in Network Architecture, which principal Peter Christy will discuss in a free webinar on January 6th at 9AM Pacific (12PM Eastern).

OpenFlow started as an effort among leading network researchers to make it easier to build and test research networks at a real-world scale. It has grown to become an initiative with major economic implications for large data center design and operation, and beyond.

"There aren't many people familiar with OpenFlow," says Christy, co-founder of IRG. "But you can bet that John Chambers, Bob Muglia, Mark Hurd, Paul Maritz and the leading VC's are paying it deep attention. It's going to change the game radically, starting with the large data centers that anchor cloud computing."

The report furnishes the reader with an introduction to OpenFlow as well as a deeper look into what leading people and companies are thinking and doing about it. It makes clear the economic drivers behind OpenFlow, where it's likely to have the earliest impact, and some of the ways it will be changing the network architecture the world has depended on for forty years.

In the webinar, Christy will review his findings and furnish highlights of his conversations with industry leaders about OpenFlow.

Registration for the webinar is free; simply send an e-mail to The report OpenFlow: A Revolution in Network Architecture (, including private meetings with IRG industry analysts on what you can expect from OpenFlow in 2011, is $2,500 ($2,000 if ordered before year-end).
