NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 22, 2010) -  Specialty Retailers have taken note of the shift towards digital content throughout the industry. With demand for products that can be easily accessed over the internet growing at a rapid pace, companies are expanding their offerings to include digital television, movies, music, and games. The Bedford Report examines the outlook for companies in the Specialty Retailers Industry and provides research reports on Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NFLX) and Liberty Media Corporation (NASDAQ: LINTA). While the specialty retail industry is ripe with growth prospects, there are concerns in regards to increased competition putting downward pressure on prices, high shipping expenses, and the rising cost of marketing efforts. Competition and price reductions are unavoidable in the industry as consumers use the Internet to quickly find and conduct research about items at attractive prices. It is the nature of the industry -- while the convenience of the internet drives sales, it also drives prices down.

This week, shares of the online movie rental agency, Netflix, skyrocketed after posting impressive fiscal second quarter earnings. For the period ending September 30th, Netflix reported that 1.93 million customers signed up for the service last quarter, a net increase from 1.03 million in the second quarter, to reach 16.9 million subscribers, while net income rose to $38 million, or 70 cents a share, from $30.1 million, or 52 cents, a year earlier.
