Internet of Things: 37% of U.S. Broadband Households Will Buy One or More Smart Devices in 2015

Parks Associates and Dassault Systèmes to Host Complimentary Smart Home Research Webcast

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - Jan 27, 2015) -  Internet of Things research from Parks Associates predicts rapid growth in the smart home in 2015, as 37% of U.S. broadband households intend to buy one or more smart devices this year. This growing adoption of smart devices will raise the importance of interoperability and speed in innovation as consumers will expect all devices to work together and offer the latest benefits. In 2014, nearly two-thirds of devices purchased were part of a home controls or security system.

The research firm will co-host the webcast "IoT: Smart Appliances in the Era of Experiences" with Dassault Systèmes on Tuesday, February 3, 5:00 PM CET / 10:00 AM CT. The webcast will focus on the new tools and business strategies required to transform product management, design, and support processes to compete in the Internet of Things.

"Connectivity is changing everything and creating market conditions where the speed of innovation is a key success factor in the smart home," said Tom Kerber, Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates. "In the era of the Internet of Things, traditional development times for appliances are too slow. This webcast will examine the importance of data in extending the product ecosystem and creating value-added services."

The webcast will feature the following speakers:

  • David Bingham, Design System Curator, GE
  • Tom Kerber, Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates
