InterSense IS-900 Motion Tracking System Selected for US Army Flight School XXI Program Upgrade

Precision Motion Trackers Optimize Configuration of Immersive Training System, Enhancing Performance

BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwire - November 26, 2007) - InterSense, Inc., a market leader in precision motion technology, today announced that L-3 Link Simulation and Training (L-3 Link) has begun integrating its Advanced Helmet Mounted Display (AHMD) system with InterSense's IS-900 precision motion tracking system into the US Army's Flight School XXI Reconfigurable Collective Training Devices (RCTDs). The embedded motion tracking sensors, called MiniTrax, reduce weight and significantly improve overall system performance. RCTDs, which support collective aircrew training, can have their simulated cockpits rapidly reconfigured to represent any of the Army's cargo, assault, reconnaissance or attack platforms.

The integration of the InterSense IS-900 system into L-3 Link's AHMD offers a flexible, simple and highly accurate tracking solution with no noticeable jitter or latency. Designed to support both virtual training and augmented operational reality, the AHMD attaches to the user's own helmet to provide a lightweight, balanced center of gravity. Image alignment controls ensure users obtain optimum display viewing and provide a 360° field-of-regard of both out-the-window imagery and systems symbology. In addition, the integration of InterSense's IS-900 technology into the AHMD offers an economic solution for fast development and deployment.

"As one of InterSense's largest and most long-standing customers, it was a pleasure to partner with L-3 Link to optimize their unique AHMD system," stated T.C. Browne, CEO of InterSense. "Over the years, our collaboration has allowed our two companies to bring a variety of specific core competencies to the table to co-develop improved systems for military use. We look forward to partnering with L-3 Link on future AHMD enhancements and additional programs that require our OEM solutions."
