Intertech Names Medical Device Veteran Head of Systems Engineering

Barrett Joins After 19 Years of Experience at Baxter International


NORWOOD, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 19, 2007 --Intertech Engineering Associates Inc., medical-device consultants and engineers, has hired Robert Barrett as its director of systems engineering.

Barrett, who will be based in the Chicago area, previously held the same position at Baxter International's Medication Delivery Division, leading its systems engineering group for software-driven medical devices.

During his nineteen years at Baxter, he held a variety of engineering management positions and gained extensive experience leading cross-functional teams to move medical products from concept to market release. He is expert in product safety, risk analysis, system-design verification and validation, system integration and testing, compliance engineering, and system architecture.

Barrett won the Baxter Annual Outstanding Technical Contribution Award in 2005 for the development of a new PCA infusion pump and in 1995 for his work on an ambulatory infusion pump.

He holds an MBA from the Keller Graduate School of Management and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology from Southern Illinois University.

Barrett lives in Vernon Hills, Ill.
