Intrinsyc and Enfora Announce EDGE Feature Phone Reference Platform for Handset Developers

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(CCNMatthews - April 5, 2006) -

Advanced TI OMAP 850-based reference platform for cost-effective and feature-rich mobile phone designs

Intrinsyc Software International Inc. (TSX:ICS), a mobility software and services company, and Enfora L.P, a GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio module developer and wireless device manufacturer, today announce the availability of a complete GSM/GPRS/EDGE feature phone design. The design combines Intrinsyc's Soleus™ feature phone software platform based on Microsoft® Windows™ CE with a dual-core architecture radio module based on Texas Instruments' (TI) OMAP850 applications processor and developed by Enfora. Together they deliver a complete feature phone solution that offers faster development of feature phones at a lower cost for device manufacturers and network operators worldwide.

At the heart of the platform is Intrinsyc's Soleus feature phone software platform, that offers a range of pre-integrated phone applications including a Java virtual machine (MIDP 2.0), Email (POP/SMTP), SMS, MMS, a browser (WAP 2.0/XHTML), and Instant Messaging, along with a fully customizable user interface. Soleus has been optimized for Enfora's certified quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radio module design that provides separate radio and applications processors, all in a 46 X 30 X 3mm footprint, enabling the creation of small form factor phones. The embedded applications processor allows for camera, Bluetooth, SD, USB and other compelling handset features, as well as EDGE-compatibility for the fast delivery of multimedia and other broadband applications to the end user.
