Intrinsyc to Offer Reference Design for Tablets and Other Smart Consumer Devices

Reference Design Based on Freescale's i.MX53 chipset

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 28, 2010) - Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. (TSX:ICS), a leading Android software solutions provider to the global mobile and embedded device community, today announced it will offer a complete software reference design platform based on Freescale Semiconductor's i.MX53 chipset. This platform is an ideal solution for a variety of consumer applications such as: tablets, smartbooks, gaming devices, video enabled IP phones, and more. Availability is expected in the first quarter of 2011.

The i.MX53 family of processors represents Freescale's highly advanced multimedia and power-efficient implementation of the ARM® Cortex™-A8 core. The first product in this family, the i.MX53, prepares your end device for tomorrow's smart mobile technology today. The i.MX53 enables hours of full HD 1080p video playback and an amazing Adobe® Flash® 10.1 experience. Up to 2GB external memory support equips your end device for cloud computing applications and future OSs and browsers. With core processing speeds up to 1.2 GHz as well as a high level of integration, the i.MX53 enables a great user experience at a lower retail price point.

The i.MX53 features 1080p video decode, 720p video encode, improved graphics performance, and a 400MHz-capable external memory bus that enables larger LCD screens. The device also integrates a vast array of key peripherals including DDR3, Serial ATA, LVDS, Ethernet and four USB ports, thereby boosting scalability and lowering bill of material costs.

Intrinsyc will enhance Freescale's i.MX53 platform with high quality software components such as RapidRIL™ telephony software, and Intrinsyc's device management software, as well as technical support and custom engineering services. The reference design provides software application developers and device manufacturers a complete development platform to leverage the powerful capabilities of the i.MX53 and accelerate the development of smart consumer devices and applications.

"Freescale is pleased to work with Intrinsyc to expand the market for our i.MX53 consumer applications processor; helping developers of smart mobile devices quickly build market leading products," said Rajeev Kumar, marketing manager for i.MX and consumer products with Freescale's Multimedia Applications Division. "Intrinsyc is highly focused on consumer device development based on the Android™ OS and offers our shared customers valuable software components and world class engineering capabilities."

"The Freescale i.MX53 reference design is an outstanding choice for building tablet devices and emerging categories of devices such as IP video phones" said Mark Waldenberg, Director of Business Development for Intrinsyc. "We're excited to work collaboratively with Freescale to provide consumer device OEMs with innovative, cost-effective solutions."

The Freescale i.MX53 reference platform will include Intrinsyc's RapidRIL™ and device management software, and should be available from Intrinsyc in the first quarter of 2011. Intrinsyc will offer support and custom development through their global services organization.
