Complimentary School Safety and Awareness Programs Sponsored by Sahara Sam's Oasis Indoor Water Park

WEST BERLIN, NJ--(Marketwire - Nov 9, 2011) - Sahara Sam's Oasis Indoor Water Park is excited to announce its newest initiative: The SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program, a complimentary educational program for schools and community groups. The SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program is a 501(c)3, based at and primarily funded by Sahara Sam's Oasis Indoor Water Park.

The SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program covers New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards: 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, and 6.3 by offering the following programs: Safety Awareness (Stay Calm, Stranger Danger, Bullying); Emergencies (Knowing Who to Call, The 411 on Calling 9-1-1, When You're Alone); First Aid (Minor Scrapes, Cuts and Bleeding, Burns, Sprains and Strains, Fractures and Broken Bones, Asthma, Allergies and Allergic Reactions, Poison Safety, Choking and Abdominal Thrusts, Heart Attacks, Cardiac Arrest, CPR); Water Safety (Know Your Limits, Lifeguards, Pool, Lake, and Beach Safety, Winter Water and Ice Safety, Pool Chemical Safety).

As an indoor water park, Sahara Sam's trains and fully-certifies its lifeguards in first aid and CPR through an extensive classroom course and practical real water scenarios. These lifeguards make up SAMBULANCE Safety Squad, who coordinate and present age-appropriate curriculum for students in classroom sessions or large group assemblies.

"After personally reviewing the SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program and experiencing first-hand what the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad offers, all personnel hired to maintain the Squad are dedicated professionals with an ability to communicate in a positive manner to achieve the mission and goals regarding educational safety measures," said Art Folks, retired Captain Commander of the Operation's Division and 25-year veteran of the of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

The SAMBULANCE, which is an ambulance wrapped in fun colors and design, is used as part of the program to introduce children to an ambulance, the first responders who operate them, and the various tools inside, such as oxygen units and back boards. In an effort to make learning about safety FUN, Sahara Sam's Mascot joins the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad at all appearances as "Doc Sam" or "Lifeguard Sam," depending on the theme of the session. As a take-away from the program, all kids receive full coloring book, safety word search, and a Fire Escape Plan template, plus a SAMBULANCE Safety Squad certificate along with a SAMBULANCE patch. Teachers receive a list of discussion questions and supplemental materials to continue the conversation.

Through our partnership with Safe Kids of Southern New Jersey, the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad is available to present additional, supplemental information from Safe Kids USA, an international coalition dedicated to educating children in various aspects of safety. Safe Kids is locally administered by Cooper Children's Regional Hospital, who is also a partner of the SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program, providing program and presentation support from highly regarded medical professionals.

"Safe Kids and Cooper are so proud to be affiliated with the SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program," said Maureen Donnelly, Coalition Coordinator for Safe Kids, Southern New Jersey and RN for Cooper University Hospital. "Not only are they doing good work, but through our partnership, the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad's inclusion of our programs in their sessions allows our message of safety to reach so many more children in this area."

SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program has also partnered with McGruff, allowing use of their mascot for discussions on crime prevention, as well as supplying specially-designed McGruff Safe Kids ID Kits that include a personal identification section, complete with fingerprinting kit for parents to keep up-to-date information about their children.

SAMBULANCE Educational Safety Program also has great partnerships with the safety officers in its local community, including the police and fire departments. Through these partnerships, the SAMBULANCE Safety Squad is able to organize visits and facilitate programming from these different organizations and departments enhancing the curriculum options.

"The representatives they sent were wonderful, very informative and the children were overjoyed to see mascot Sam," said Chief Joseph Jackson, Berlin Township Police Department. "It is clear to me that Sahara Sam's is an exceptional organization -- one that would contribute greatly to any program."
