CSA Designs a New Mobile Experience for Photo Sharing App Shuttersong

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2013) -  Carbone Smolan Agency (CSA), a leading branding strategy and interactive design firm, announces today the release of the new photo app Shuttersong to the Apple App Store. CSA crafted a brand identity and interface for Shuttersong, delivering a new mobile app experience which seamlessly blends music or recorded sound with photos.

The technology behind Shuttersong is a patent-pending file format, and CSA built a product around this technology. This included CSA defining features, designing the user interface, and creating a brand identity. The resulting app provides a new way to capture memories and easily share them on any digital platform as well as through social media. By developing a wordless interface and playful brand identity, Shuttersong stands out amongst other photo apps for its ease of use and ingenuity. 

"With the release of Apple's iOS 7, trends in app design are towards flatter and simpler interfaces," says Paul Pierson, CSA Partner and Design Director, "We've always valued simplicity at CSA, but also see that current trends are leading to an over-reliance on the written word. So for Shuttersong, we eliminated words all together."

By pursuing a wordless interface CSA crafted a design solution that resonates with a global audience. Founder William Agush states, "I always believed from the beginning that a unique and simple user interface would set Shuttersong apart in the market, and that's why I wanted to work with CSA on this app." The intuitive, smart graphics highlight the functionality of the app, a celebration of smart design and technology.

CSA identified early on that creating and sharing a Shuttersong should be a 'simple joy.' Pierson explains, "At CSA we believe any brand should seek to connect emotionally with its customers." For Shuttersong, CSA achieved this through the design of a playful, compelling, and just-a-little-bit-cute mascot named Melody. "Since the mermaid is a hybrid creature known for her siren song it was a natural embodiment for Shuttersong." Melody brings life, energy, and an emotional connection to the app experience.

By placing an emphasis on capturing and preserving life moments through Shuttersong, the overall user experience results in an app that's emotional, not technical.
