Introducing "The Roundtable" on Sun News Network

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 24, 2011) - Sun News Network, a partnership between TVA Group Inc. and Sun Media Corporation, two subsidiaries of Quebecor Media Inc., is pleased to announce that Alex Pierson, Pat Bolland and Andrea Slobodian will join forces to bring you a three-hour morning show called "The Roundtable."

"Pat, Alex and Andrea will light up Canadian morning television," said Luc Lavoie, Head of Development for Sun News. "By including a western host, we will send a message, once and for all, that with Sun News the West is in."

"The Roundtable" will be a different kind of morning show. Kicking off at 8:00am ET each morning it will be a feisty, personality-driven discussion on national issues... including the West! Pat Bolland and Alex Pierson will be at the roundtable in Toronto, while Andrea Slobodian will sub-anchor from Calgary. The three-hour program will feature debate, discussion and lively interviews with newsmakers and shakers from coast to coast.

There's not much award-winning journalist Alex Pierson hasn't seen or taken on over her 15 year career as a reporter and anchor. She's gone toe-to-toe with pit-bull-hating politicians, faced off against Black Block protesters during the G20 and her reports on the Ontario trucking industry not only saw her drive a big rig – but garnered her two national awards and changed licensing laws in the province. After spending several years at Citytv and CP24 in Toronto, Alex Pierson moved to Global News where she continued her role on the anchor desk while covering the court beat.

"Talk is cheap and I'll gladly take on anyone who talks a big game and can't back it up. With Pat at my side here in Toronto we are ready to shake things up," said Alex Pierson.

Pat Bolland has been working in television for over two decades. He's got the world of business covered, and has worked on both sides of the border at CBC, CNBC, and most recently at BNN. Pat Bolland excels in taking complex stories and relating them to his viewers. He currently works at a Toronto-based communications agency. Despite all his business and television acumen he's best known as "the guy with the 'stache'."

"The Roundtable is going to be about setting the agenda for the day. It will involve smart conversation for informed people, and I'm thrilled to be working with Alex and Andrea," said Pat Bolland.

A life-long Prairie girl, Andrea Slobodian has spent the last decade working in television, radio and print newsrooms across Western Canada. She started her career at some of Sun Media's smaller newspapers in Manitoba and has worked as a television reporter, producer and anchor at Citytv and Global in Winnipeg and CBC Calgary. Stints on Breakfast Television and the Canadian Traffic Network helicopter make her no stranger to morning television and she's eager to engage in lively debate to wake up Western Canada.

"I'm proud to be a voice for Western Canada and make sure our issues are brought forward to a national level. It's exciting to be a part of this fresh new chapter in Canadian broadcasting," said Andrea Slobodian.

"The Roundtable" will air live on Sun News Network from 8 am – 11 am EST.
